Since 1991, Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea has roasted awesome coffee at our Columbus, Ohio facility. At every step – from sourcing to roasting to ‘cupping’ for quality assurance – we honor the hard work and integrity of small-plot coffee farmers and the relationships we have forged with their communities over time (learn more about our unique Friend2Farmer™ program here).
Our team travels to remote growing regions to personally select the finest specialty grade Arabica coffee beans. In 2019, we traveled over 100,000 miles – by plane, boat, bus, jeep, mule and foot – to source exceptional coffees and teas. Our master roasters then transform these beans into coffees that have won national awards, including:
- 2016 Roaster of the Year, from Roast Magazine;
- Overall Small Chain Champion at 2019 Golden Bean North America; and
- 2020 and 2017 Good Food Awards, which recognize the nation’s best tasting, most responsibly sourced coffees.

Our Innovation Lab is one of only 47 SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) Premier Training Campuses in the U.S. It’s both our headquarters and where we teach and train coffee professionals, including 150 independent coffeehouses across 30 states, how to consistently prepare delicious drinks. Located in Columbus, Ohio just east of Downtown, this space features areas for coffee evaluation, roasting, training and hosting events.
